Stone bed for a scallop
I started a small project on the side of all of my digital work this semester, in which I am exploring working with my hands to make plating inspired by seasonal ingredients. I wanted to find a way to bring my interest in gastronomy into my practice. I conducted much of my research by reading or watching documentaries or series exploring the relationship between food and culture, the art of preparing and serving food, the cooking styles of particular regions, and the science of good eating. I want to explore the relationship between the presentation of food and our experience of indulging in it.
The first ingredient to serve is a single scallop. I have chosen this ingredient due to my fond memories of a dish my father makes. I have made three ceramic sculptures that need to be glazed once I am back in the academy.
